What
is Turkey Hunting all About?
Harvesting
a
gobbler? Hearing the gobble of a responsive Tom? Or
is it the experience of it all?
I have found that we all have our favorite part of the spring
turkey season, but there is one undeniable part of turkey hunting that
will be
at the top of anyone's list: passing on the tradition.
April 2nd, I received a phone call from a great friend and brother Mike
Colburn (Co-owner of Southland Custom Game Calls). The
excitement in
his voice could only mean one thing. As the story was told
over the
phone, I could see the smile on Mike's face and hear the pride in his
voice, "Shawn harvested his first Gobbler". Shawn Colburn is
the son
of Mike and Peggy Colburn.
As we spoke on the phone and the whole story was told, it was easy to
see that this was not just harvesting a gobbler. It was the
Love of a
family, on a special day, that would be the beginning of a new era of
turkey hunting in the Colburn Home.
For those hunter's that have never taken a youth hunting or
fishing,
trust me, you are missing the best part of the sport. You can
tell by
the following photos of Shawn's first gobbler. Congratulations
Shawn, Mike, and Peggy from everyone at the Southland family.
